Belgcamp

I enjoy going to conferences. Here in Europe we have a large number available each year with a big variety of top-notch speakers, all experts in what they do. My 2 favorite conferences are probable dConstruct (Brighton, UK) and Build (Belfast, Ireland).

But let’s be honest: The talks are only half the reason we attend conferences. A couple of times each year, they allow us to catch up with some of our best friends (and make fun of the people who are there to “network”), most of which live too far away to meet up with on a regular base.

When Paddy sent out an email early December, I got all excited. He suggested we’d have a meetup in Belgium. 3 days of visiting cities in our small country, combined with good food, and fine beer. Within a couple of weeks, everyone booked their tickets and reserved a spot on the floor of either Paddy, Dave or myself where they can put down their sleeping bags.

This Friday (January 15th), it all starts. The first city we hit is Leuven. If you want to meet up, we’ll be in bar/pub/restaurant Kosmopol (right in front of the train station, Gowalla link) starting from 7PM. Feel free to join us for dinner, a couple of beers, some good conversations, and a lot of laughs.

Can’t make it to Leuven? You can always follow what we’re up to on Twitter (list) or search for #belgcamp.
